Terms of Use

These terms govern use of the Songspot website and browser game. By using the site, you agree to follow these terms and applicable law. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

1. The service

Songspot is an entertainment game that asks players to identify songs from short audio previews. The service includes a shared Daily 5 challenge with a public leaderboard and an unlimited, unranked Practice mode. It does not provide full-track streaming, music downloads, login accounts or guaranteed access to any specific recording.

2. Acceptable use

You may use Songspot for personal, non-destructive play and share results or Practice challenge links with others. You may not interfere with the site, bypass technical or one-attempt limits, falsify or manipulate scores, automate leaderboard play, submit impersonating, hateful, unlawful or abusive nicknames or profile photos, upload an image you do not have the right to use, scrape media at scale, attempt unauthorised access, distribute malware or violate another person's rights. We may hide a nickname or photo, or remove a score or profile, to protect players and leaderboard integrity.

3. Music, artwork and third-party material

Song titles, artist names, album information, artwork and audio previews may be supplied by third parties. Rights in that material remain with their respective owners. Appearance in the game does not imply sponsorship or endorsement by an artist, label, publisher, streaming service or platform.

Songspot does not grant you rights to copy, download, redistribute or commercially exploit third-party media. Rights holders can report an issue through rights@songspot.org.

4. Daily 5 profiles, nicknames and photos

Daily 5 uses a browser-linked profile rather than a login account. A public nickname must be unique, is not self-editable in v1 and remains associated with published scores until the profile is deleted. A profile photo is optional and becomes public when the score is published. You confirm that you have permission to use any submitted image. Clearing browser data may remove your ability to access that profile. You can delete the profile from the leaderboard page while the original browser session remains available; deletion removes the profile photo, releases the nickname and cannot be undone.

5. Sharing and Practice challenges

Daily result shares contain score, five result cells and rank when published, but not song answers. Practice challenge links encode enough game information to reproduce one round. Anyone with a link may be able to open it. Practice does not affect Daily 5 rankings, and you are responsible for where you share a link.

6. Availability and changes

The game is provided on an evolving basis. Tracks, previews, difficulty placement, controls and pages may be corrected, replaced or removed. We may suspend Daily 5, the leaderboard or the whole service to protect it, comply with a request or perform maintenance. We do not promise that every browser, preview or round will always be available.

7. No warranties

To the extent permitted by law, Songspot is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of uninterrupted operation, accuracy, fitness for a particular purpose or non-infringement. Rankings are a casual game feature, not an esports or prize-grade competition. Nothing in these terms excludes rights that cannot legally be excluded.

8. Limitation of responsibility

To the extent permitted by law, Songspot is not responsible for indirect, incidental or consequential loss arising from use of the site, unavailable previews, lost browser sessions, third-party services or shared links. Your sole remedy for dissatisfaction with the service is to stop using it or delete your profile.

9. Privacy

The Songspot Privacy Policy explains Daily 5 profiles, public nicknames, leaderboard records, browser storage, Turnstile, analytics, audio requests and deletion choices.

10. Changes to these terms

These terms may be updated as the service changes. The effective date above will change when a material revision is published. Continued use after an update means the revised terms apply from that point forward.

11. Contact

Questions about these terms or nickname reports can be sent to hello@songspot.org. Music and artwork concerns should use the dedicated rights address on the contact page.
